Transformation

.

Last year we received a vision of transformation for the town of Staines. We believe in this because we recognise it as true to God's heart. We embrace it with the certainty that transformation will follow not only here but throughout the UK. Glory to God!

The vision for transformation was very much focussed on prayer...that the churches in Staines unite to pray together pleading with Him to transform us...to transform our community...to break down the strongholds of evil that afflict and bind the people of our town...to bring a new openness to consider and receive Jesus Christ as Lord...to bring hope as lives are turned around...

We started praying in August last year asking the Lord for forgiveness for our coldness and asking him to change our hearts that we would seek him with earnestness and faith expecting Him to do great things. We asked that our hearts would be filled with love and real hunger for change.

We continued to pray each month and in January we had our first joint church transformation prayer meeting followed by another in March (see the photos on this page). Along with this there is a renewed enthusiasm and commitment among different churches in Spelthorne to fellowship and work together.

Right from the beginning one of the strongest burdens God put on our hearts was against the drink culture that pervades our town and is the cause of so many problems. We were especially concerned about the effect on young people and the damage that it may do to their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

As we prayed God answered as a number of alcohol outlets closed. Then came Street Angels a request from the police to Churches Together in Staines to provide assistance on the streets at weekends to those who need it.
